Valdimar J. Eylands, Lutherans in Canada. Winnipeg: Icelandic Evangelical Lutheran Synod, 1945. In this work Eylands writes the first Canadian Lutheran history book from his location in the Icelandic Synod in ministry in Winnipeg. He writes with an aim to cover all the synodical bodies seeking to work more closely together in Canada in the 1940s. Eylands utilized key historians from divergent backgrounds. KLK
Carl R. Cronmiller, A History of the Lutheran Church in Canada. Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Canada, 1961.. Cronmiller, wrote while pastoring among the Loyalist Lutherans along the St. Lawrence. He wrote with an aim to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of what's now the "Eastern Synod" of the ELCIC. This publication is the summary of documentation with analysis by Threinen as Executive Secretary of the Joint Commission on Inter-Lutheran Relationships for the Lutheran Council in Canada.
Synodical Publications
In Canada, perhaps even more important than the few texts written by the clergy are the writings in the synodical and National Church publications and particularly so in the Merger Eras (JCILR to 1977)) and Merger Commission 1978-1986). Extensive historical Series writings were prepared to for newspapers and magazines that would reach the people in the pew and unite Lutherans in a common identity.
For the Record - publication of the Canadian Lutheran Historical Association
Canada Lutheran (Synodical publication from Eastern Canada until 19XX).
Canada Lutheran (National Church publication from 19XX).
The Shepherd - Publication of the ELCC
Minute Books
With only two seminaries in the ELCIC and predecessor bodies in Canada, access to a fulsome Library stack was exceedingly limited. In contrast, Minute Books were distributed to every congregation and available to the people in the pews. Much important Canadian Lutheran History exists in the pages of the Minute Books of the Synods.
Canadian Writings
George O. Evenson, Adventuring for Christ: The Story of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada (Calgary: Foothills Lutheran Press, 1974), 200-201. Singularly the best text on the history of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada. An essential Canadian Lutheran history read. KLK
Roy Grosz, Mission and Merger: Wheels of Change A History of the Eastern Canada Synod, 1989. This "Eastern Synod" history book presents the story of the Eastern Canada Synod of the Canada Section of the Lutheran Church of America from the uniting of the Nova Scotia Synod with the Canada Synod within the LCA in 1962 to the start of the ELCIC. in 1986. American Writings

E. Clifford Nelson, ed., The Lutherans in North America. Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1975.
Considered by Granquist to be "the standard" text on Continental Lutheran History. Norwegian roots. KLK
